Basketball Success - Threeasy Does It!

1st April 2017
The Y8 Basketball Team added to their impressive victory at sports central in February, by demolishing the competition at two regional tournaments this week.  The first of their new titles came on Monday, where they went undefeated in the Don Mitchison Cup at Sports Central.
Big victories over Ponteland 14 -2, Cramlington LV 28 - 0 and Meadowdale 24 - 4 helped to crown our boys champions and bring back the trophy.
Then on Wednesday, the boys were at it again.  This time in even more spectacular fashion, coming out on top to win the Regional School Games finals, and taking the Gold medals.  This event saw the team defeat teams from around the Northumberland School Partnership.
The first game was a a master play of basketball with the team blowing Tweedmouth off the court with a massive 48 - 0 victory. Two slighlty closer games followed against Cramlington LV with a 14 - 4 win and then Ovingham defeated with a 20 - 2 victory.  By this time the Y8 boys were commanding the court.  Impressive in defense and ruthless under the basketball net.  The final two games were again dominated by Coates, impressively defeating NCEA 28 point to 0.  The final game was another basketball feast, with the score finishing 30 - 6 against a valiant St Benet Biscop.
Mr Hopper has been truly inspired and impressed by the basketball squads efforts, who have shown a real team ethos throughout each of their tournaments.  With captain Seb leading the way and helping the boys raise their own games during continuous sessions over break time and lunchtime.  The improvement in the team has been awesome to watch.
