School Years 3, 4, 5, and 6

Dear Parent

Ponteland Cricket Club are once again providing an introduction to cricket to any boys or girls in school years 3,4, 5, and 6 who might be interested in joining in. This is as a follow on to the sessions that the children have had in school through the Chance to Shine initiative that has been organised by the club and supported by the school.

This year we are running the sessions as an after school activity on Thursday evening rather than on Sunday mornings. We are proposing to start on Thursday 2nd May and the sessions will take place every Thursday evening for 12 weeks. Each session will run from 5pm to 6pm. They will take place at Ponteland’s cricket ground which is at the back of the Leisure Centre. The Club provide all equipment and the children simply need to come dressed with training shoes and a warm top. The sessions will be supervised by qualified coaches with the emphasis on the children having fun.

The club has had a junior section for very many years and hundreds of local children have enjoyed the introduction to cricket that we provide. The club runs a number of junior teams who play at Under 11, 13, 15, and 18 age groups and many of the children who have come along to the introductory sessions have gone on to represent the club for these teams and also at senior level. Three years ago the club was awarded Clubmark status which is a national standard presented by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to those clubs who they recognise have all the correct systems in place to run a successful junior section.

Anyone who is interested should simply turn up to the cricket ground on a Thursday evening at 5pm. The cost is £30 per child for all the sessions and which is payable to Ponteland Cricket Club. The sessions will only be cancelled in the event of poor weather. The children will need to be registered and a registration form can be made available
