Y7/8 Emerging Schools Rugby
Boys from Year 7 and 8 had a fabulous afternoon of Rugby in the sun today at the Emerging Schools Rugby afternoon. With only a few boys in each year group playing for Ruby teams ouside of school, we were potenially looking at some really tough games. However, this was no to be the case.
Y7 played four games in total during he afternoon, winning three against Berwick, Tweedmouth and Corbridge and drawing one against Seaton Sluice. Having only started Rugby again at the start of the term and wih only two training sessions under their belts the boys performed really well. Some great running by skipper Sam, Jacob and Zak, meant Coates always had the opportunity to score tries. And tough tackling from Euan, Saul, Sam and George enabled us to limit the oppostions try scoring opportuniies.
Y8 played three games winning 2 against Berwick and Tweedmouth and losing by one try to Tweedmouth. Again, considering the small amount of preparation time the boys were outstanding. With Joseph leading the team, showing his explosive tackling ability along with Scott and Bailey. This enabled some good turnovers. Josh and Scott were then able to use their quick feet to run in a number of tries.
The icing on the cake was the chance to meet some of the Scotland World Cup squad who have been training locally in the area in preparation for their games at St James Park.
The boys are eagerly anticipating their next round of games.
